Week 2

Week 2

I am excited about blogging because it provides opportunities for communication enabling students to reach their full potential of learning. The students I teach are in Kindergarten, so a lot of what I learn will be used to support others and what I can use for myself will greatly impact my students' understanding of standards taught. A blog that I created in the past was from another class, but wasn't used very often, so of course I fall into the category mentioned in the reading of those who do not post often. The pictures that I added were easy to post and I was able to quickly add videos for coursework and this was a great thing to learn because it enhances what is offered to parents and students.

Blogging with parents for me would be ideal because my students are so young. I use Remind 101 to communicate with my parents and to me this is a form of blogging on my website via the widget that was added. The downfall of Remind 101 is that parents are not able to communicate back to me and using a blog would allow them to do just that. I believe that using a blogging site would encourage parents to become more interested in what their children are learning and be more apt to ask questions when it is in a less awkward, time consuming environment. As always my concern would be that parents might see this blog as that of complaints or concerns rather than a way to enhance their understanding and knowledge of what their children are learning.  I agree with both reading from  Johnson and Richardson about scaffolding blogging and internet use for students especially students that are in the primary grades.
