The Standards
I really like that we all have a common goal in mind when we think about the education of our students. Common Core is definitely going to improve scores around the United States so that students are receiving a more comparable education that than those of other states. The part that is misleading to all is that the types of resources, assistance, and materials available is still lacking and affecting the education that certain students receive even though are held to the same standard.
Students that have computer equipment to influence their learning in the technology field will surely outshine those without it. A school will expect to see higher scores if they have a large number of support staff members because they are more attentive to the student population needs. Schools can also expect to see higher scores if students have exposure to educational materials, field trips that provides valuable knowledge about the standard, and experiments that can be done in the classroom maybe more readily available to students.
The learning gap across the United States will remain the same and we will not see a change each school until the differences are closed.
