Common Core in Action: How One Art Teacher is Implementing Common Core

As a Performing Arts School we are always trying to find out ways to incorporate literacy skills and other subjects into the arts.  The art teacher's idea to focus on certain standards that can be pinpointed is very helpful to teachers and students. I think there must be an easier way to collaborate and plan across curriculum without feeling overwhelmed. When I look through out Language Arts teacher's edition, I'm able to see a small amount of core subject collaboration and hardly any for the performing arts. If Performing Arts teachers could plan around what is taught in the classroom, children would learn more quickly and effectively.

  1. I agree with this. It would make for a very good supportive technique. Performing arts allows for that kind of versatility and the classroom instructors will see the results in no time.
